...herb of the week: little leaf linden...

Little leaf linden tree

... many a time have i walked past the little leaf linden tree in my neighborhood and wondered - what is that amazing aroma?... the trees line certain blocks in my neighborhoods... and in considering its calming nervine properties may be useful in some blocks where the temperature runs high...

...linden has traditionally been used to treat nervous system disorders... and in multiple senses... from a traditional medicine perspective there is a battle between the brain-mind and the heart-mind... the heart is also considered the proper seat of the mind... in this sense linden acting as a vasodilator and supportive of heart function is a layer to its nervous system support...

...another layer of the nervine in light of traditional medicine and more recent discoveries and attention on the role of the gut, is linden leaf's soothing effect on the g.i tract... it is a mucilage and can support damaged intestinal villi, as well as ruptures from wear and tears in the stomach...

...the heart-shaped leaf is made into a tea and used to cool the mind... the flowers fruit in the summer and can be used to addressed depression and anxiety...
