...warrior iii...

...warrior iii... what does it mean to be in warrior iii?... it doesn't appear before the tertiary series in ashtanga... which i am entering at the moment... playing with some of the poses while still working through some of the challenges for me in intermediate series...

...warrior i and ii appear in succession in both primary and intermediate as a way to loosen and strengthen the joints... to bring heat into the body... to carry the sun through ida and pingala channels... but warrior iii requires a depth of balance... it requires calling in the moon to balance the manipura chakra shooting its rays of sun... especially as you tilt from your center as your back curves subtly into a shield, as it is being held up by manpura...

...warrior three has many variations... this is one of them... this is namaste in warrior iii... it is paying homage to the earth today... as i stood on stage at socrates sculpture park and performed for the tree behind me... even as the audience that gathered for the afro-futrism concert left to watch them... to be spectators to a spectacle... even as i reminded some of those who watched me that the real performance was happening beside me by the linden tree, as its petals danced in nuances in the beating sun and still summer day...

we are watching you... a couple said...
that's wild i said... cause i am watching this tree here...
they chuckled and left to watch the concert...

i stayed behind and continued to practice... feeling the breadth of the tree... my friend marina stayed behind with me... leaving us alone on the stage... she snapped the pic above...

...warrior iii... it is to root in the Always and stay balanced through the moon... even as the heat of senses shoot towards the next new thing...
